About Us
Our founder, Thom Gober, first started his business as a seasonal Christmas store in 2006. Thom had owned a garden center and was encouraged by the owners of the local mall to try a store in the mall for the holidays, his store was enough of a success that the mall encouraged him to open a year-round store.
Thom researched and found products, and opened the store in April of 2007. We have grown from that initial first location to three in NE Ohio and one in Erie, PA. We continue to evolve with our customers and their shopping habits, and work diligently to offer our guests a fun and enjoyable shopping experience. It is our goal for everyone to feel like they’ve made the perfect purchase, whether they are shopping for themselves or someone special. Our job is done when the customer leaves with a smile.
Our merchandise range goes from inspirational to funny, classic to trendy, local to national brands and everything in between. Stop by for a visit, if even to just say hello. We love making new friends!
Our Name :
We are often asked how the store name came about. Originally the store was an offshoot of a garden center and was intended to be garden themed. We started as Eden Home & Gift, but with so many versions of Eden out there, we had to come up with something more unique.
Thom contracted a marketing firm and after several meetings and emails back and forth, their proposal arrived. “Splurge” was their proposed name. However, the economy was not great, and Thom felt the name was telling customers that they probably shouldn’t be spending money there.
Thom decided to work on a name on his own, and after a few days and many hours of research and brainstorming, he was still at a roadblock. He stepped away from his computer, turned around and saw his ornery puppy, and took this photo.
She couldn’t be any cuter with the flower she had stolen from the garden! Thus, Gracy Lou was the inspiration for the store name. Thom lost her in 2022 at almost 16 years old, but memories of the best dog ever continue to live on in our hearts.
